Reports

See some great lab work by your peers

NYS requires you to provide a minimum of 1200 minutes of lab, complete with passing lab reports.  These reports must be kept in the classroom once they pass, and remain the property of Vestal High School.  Make sure they end up in the file cabinet in our room after you get them back.

You are expected to do ALL the lab reports for grades, which count for (or against) you on your report cards.  You do not become "exempt" from any lab reports when you reach the state minimum.  Our minimum is all of them.  If you lose one, you can reprint them from below.

First Quarter Lab Experiments
  1. Measurement (density, percent error, and significant figures) [40]
  2. Temperature (three scales, more percent error and significant figures) [40]
  3. Density (old vs. new pennies) [80]
  4. Physical and Chemical Changes (indicators of chemical reactions) [80]
  5. Electrons (spectra and flame tests) [80]
  6. Review #1 (as the name says!) [40]
  7. Moles  (the biggest numbers you ever saw, molar masses, Avogadro) [80]
  8. % Composition of a Hydrate (copper II sulfate pentahydrate) [80]
  9. % Composition by Mass (how much sugar is in bubble gum?) [40]
  10. % Composition of a different hydrate (magnesium sulfate heptahydrate) [40]

[1200 lab minutes required for year, 560 lab minutes 1st quarter]

Second Quarter Lab Experiments
  1. Zinc Removal From a Penny Lab [40]
