Periodic Table Chemistry The Periodic Table of the Elements is our map to understanding the deep connection between how matter acts and reacts, and how we can organize it and learn it all. The different kinds of tables we use: our reference table, the big charts in our classrooms, and the varied tables on the internet, all are sharing similar information (although the internet is best thought of as a vast wasteland). In the table, the atoms are arranged so that there is a Periodically Repeating Pattern of chemical properties in the groups. The periods contain only atoms with the same numbers of electron orbitals, but the groups are truly similar atoms. Dimitri Mendeleev is the main man, the Russian chemist who gave us this document, in 1869! All those numbers, all those little + and - numbers, the letters! Oh my! How lucky we are. Then, on top of all that we'll discover the many trends of the many different properties that you don't yet know about, This is going to be great. All this, and the craziest lab ever! |
